The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
A Hunger Games prequel
SUNRISE ON THE REAPING is the latest prequel in the Hunger Games saga. It is set 24 years before the events of Katniss Everdeen’s original trilogy, roughly four decades after the most recent story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The story focuses on the fateful year Haymitch Abernathy, the future mentor to Katniss and Peeta, is selected to compete in the Second Quarter Quell, an event that dramatically changes the rules of the Hunger Games. Instead of the usual two tributes from each district, each district must send four, bringing the total to 48 participants in the arena—the largest number in Panem’s history, twice as many victims, and an even lower chance of survival.
