The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
A prequel to The Hunger Games saga
SUNRISE ON THE REAPING is the latest prequel in The Hunger Games saga. It takes place 24 years before the events of Katniss Everdeen’s original trilogy, roughly four decades after the most recent story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The story follows the fateful year when Haymitch Abernathy, the future mentor to Katniss and Peeta, is selected to compete in the second Quarter Quell, an event that drastically changes the rules of the deadly games. Instead of the usual two tributes per district, each district must send four, bringing the number of contestants in the arena to 48—the largest in Panem’s history, with twice as many victims and an even lower chance of survival.
