Det gode ekteskap
Film screening
A small but great Eric Rohmer film about a young woman who one day decides she wants to get married. The only thing she is missing is someone to marry.
The entertaining second film in the “Comedies and Proverbs” series has an original premise: student Sabine suddenly decides, completely out of the blue, that she wants to get married. All she needs is a groom. She breaks up with her boyfriend, quits her job, and tries to seduce the busy lawyer Edmond. He is kind to Sabine, but he has no interest in marrying her. Nor is he interested in having a romantic relationship with her. Det gode ekteskap is simply one of the most pleasurable and inspired of Rohmer’s films.
Everything within it is well-defined and magically, unexpectedly, illuminating.

Only Rohmer could handle such single-minded self-deception and the ultimate realisation of humiliation with such witty tact.
