A prequel to The Hunger Games saga
SUNRISE ON THE REAPING is the latest prequel in The Hunger Games saga. It is set 24 years before the events of Katniss Everdeen’s original trilogy, placing it roughly four decades after the latest story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The story centres on the fateful year when Haymitch Abernathy, the future mentor to Katniss and Peeta, is selected to take part in the Second Quarter Quell, an event that drastically changes the rules of the Hunger Games. Instead of the usual two tributes from each district, each district must send four, resulting in 48 participants in the arena—the highest number in Panem’s history, twice as many victims and an even lower chance of survival.
