The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

SUNRISE ON THE REAPING is the latest prequel in the Hunger Games saga, set 24 years before the events of Katniss Everdeen’s original trilogy, placing it roughly four decades after the most recent story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The story focuses on the fateful year when Haymitch Abernathy, the future mentor of Katniss and Peeta, is selected to compete in the second Quarter Quell, an event that drastically changes the rules of the Hunger Games. Instead of the usual two tributes from each district, each district must send four, bringing the number of competitors in the arena to 48—the highest in Panem’s history, twice as many victims and an even lower chance of survival.
