The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
Film screening
SUNRISE ON THE REAPING is the latest prequel in the Hunger Games saga. It takes place 24 years before the events of Katniss Everdeen’s original trilogy, roughly four decades after the most recent story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The story centres on the fateful year when Haymitch Abernathy, the future mentor to Katniss and Peeta, is selected to compete in the second Quarter Quell, an event that drastically changes the rules of the deadly games. Instead of the usual two tributes from each district, four are sent from each, bringing the total in the arena to 48—the largest number in Panem’s history, twice as many victims and an even lower chance of survival.
