Would you like someone to talk to about the books you read?

Deichman hosts monthly reading groups. Everyone reads the same book, then meets to discuss it. Stop by during staffed hours to borrow a copy.

This time, we’ll discuss "Innsirkling" (2007) by Carl Frode Tiller.

The enigmatic David has lost his memory, and an advertisement invites old acquaintances to write to him. Several people in his circle decide to respond. With deep psychological insight and raw, dark humour, Tiller traces the lives of David and the letter writers. In doing so, he also offers a rich cross-section of the time they live in: our own. The stories explore decisive choices, misguided ambitions and longings.

The three books in the Innsirkling trilogy are a major work of Norwegian literature. Through a series of penetrating looks at relationships between people across different decades and social settings, Tiller has created an exceptionally rich and complex story about modern Norway. The final piece of the puzzle does more than provide an answer; it will also turn everything you thought you knew about David upside down.

Tiller has written a number of novels that have attracted considerable attention, particularly the Innsirkling trilogy (2007–2014). For the first book, he received the Brageprisen, Kritikerprisen and Sultprisen. The book was also shortlisted for the Nordisk Råds Litteraturpris and the EU Prize for Literature. The second book received P2-lyttaranes romanpris and was nominated for the Bokhandlerprisen, Kritikerprisen and Nordisk Råds Litteraturpris. In 2020, Tiller received the Doblougprisen.
