Drapet på Benjamin Hermansen
A film about racism, loss and reconciliation
We follow Marit's struggle in court, while flashbacks to life before the tragedy weave together two lives. Benjamin grows up surrounded by friends and a mother who cares for him, while Joe Erling is shaped by an environment marked by neglect. Both live in areas with low social status. Benjamin experiences the police stigmatizing him, while Joe Erling is drawn into the neo-Nazi Boot Boys scene in his search for security. The film depicts the vulnerability of young boys as they try to find themselves and a sense of belonging — and the catastrophic consequences when hatred is allowed to take root. 25 years after the murder of Benjamin Hermansen, this is a story we still need to tell — about racism, loss and the hope of reconciliation in a society that must not forget.
