Drapet på Benjamin Hermansen
A film about racism, loss and the hope of reconciliation
Marit’s fight in court and flashbacks to life before the tragedy weave two fates together. Benjamin grows up surrounded by friends and a mother who cares for him, while Joe Erling is shaped by an environment marked by neglect. Both live in areas with low social status. Benjamin experiences stigma from the police, while Joe Erling drifts into the neo-Nazi Boot Boys milieu in search of a sense of security. The film portrays the vulnerability of young boys trying to find themselves and a sense of belonging—and the catastrophic consequences that can follow when hatred is allowed to grow. Twenty-five years after the murder of Benjamin Hermansen, this is a story we still need to tell—about racism, loss and the hope of reconciliation in a society that must not forget.
