Butterfly
Butterfly – a film screening in Oslo
Half-sisters Lily (Renate Reinsve) and Diana (Helene Bjørneby) reluctantly return to Gran Canaria, where their mother died under mysterious circumstances. When the sisters discover that their mother led a completely unknown life, they embark on a journey in her wild footsteps. We travel from the tourist hub to the hidden heart of Gran Canaria – an alternative universe in the Canary Islands mountains.
Butterfly introduces us to a world rich in colour, rituals and emotions, captivating with a tone that is both humorous and deeply moving.
Butterfly is an uplifting and original cinema experience, with Reinsve and Bjørnebye as the sisters, Lillian Müller as their mother, and Numan Acar as her much younger lover. The film was shot in real locations, both in the “Norwegian Granca” and in places unfamiliar to most Norwegians.
