Where the River Begins
Where the River Begins
Yajaira, a young and strong Emberá woman, lives with her daughter Maria in a violent neighborhood in Bogotá. Haunted by dreams of the jungle, she longs to return to the village she once called home. After tragedy strikes, they have no choice but to leave. The charismatic gang member Jhon joins them on the dangerous journey to the Andágueda River, but he is driven by other, secret motives. Where the River Begins is a tender, poetic film in which a dangerous escape becomes a journey towards healing old wounds. As the jungle resurfaces through memories and dreams, masks fall away, and reality takes on the magic of Yajaira’s inner world.
