Vår, sommer, høst, vinter … og vår
Vår, sommer, høst, vinter … og vår — A film by Kim Ki-duk
South Korean filmmaker Kim Ki-duk’s films range from the mystically contemplative to the grotesquely violent. This exceptionally beautiful film depicts the cycle of the seasons in five tableaux.
Through five tableaux, the film depicts the cycle of the seasons. In the first spring, we meet a monk and a young boy. The monk teaches the boy some basic ethical and philosophical principles, and their relationship forms the heart of the film. Then a young woman comes to live on the boat for health reasons, and new ethical questions—and romance—arise. The boy is on the verge of becoming a man.
Vår, sommer, høst, vinter … og vår is an exceptional film that made a deep impression on audiences when it was screened, first at Film fra Sør and later in Norwegian cinemas in 2004.
