Tøyen forteller
A community evening of local food, music and stories
Local food. Local music. Local truths and legends.
We’re turning the hall into a welcoming living room and celebrating the Tøyen community. Come in and feel at home!
This evening, we’re proud to present the Tøyen premiere of Ingvild Rishøi and Lisa Aisato’s new book, “Trettende desember” — a beautiful and moving Christmas story about unexpected solidarity, set in very familiar local surroundings. Ingvild Rishøi will read from the book, with the illustrations shown on a big screen.
Solidarity will also be the topic of a conversation with Dijana Sekulic. She’ll talk about her Serbian background and how volunteering helped her put down new roots in Norway — and help others do the same. Dijana now leads Tøyen frivilligsentral, and will share some of what happens there. We’ll also get to see Lena Vidas Tøyenbunad, a traditional Norwegian folk costume made for Tøyen.
Ali Osman Egeh will perform Somali love songs.
Food will be served, with a warm neighbourhood atmosphere.
