The Christmas concert Sanger om Glede og Fred has become a beloved tradition for many, bringing together some of the country’s leading jazz musicians and audiences for a quiet pause amid the preparations for Christmas. This evening at Hærverk marks 15 years of the tradition. The quartet features Torun Eriksen – vocals, Bjørn Klakegg – guitars, Johannes Eick – double bass, and guest soloist Per Willy Aaserud – trumpet.

About the album: Sanger om Glede og Fred was released in 2010 on Jazzland Recordings. Torun Eriksen and Frøydis Grorud wanted to make a different kind of Christmas album. They brought along two of their great heroes, Bjørn Kjellemyr (bass) and Bjørn Klakegg (guitar). The quartet went to Klakegg’s farm, set up in the stable and recorded a quiet, beautiful album in Norwegian, featuring new and old, familiar and unfamiliar Christmas songs. You’ll find «Deilig Er Jorden», «Jeg synger Julekvad» and «Det Lyser i Stille Grender» alongside «Karl-Bertil Jonnsons Julafton», «Elv»—Eriksen’s Norwegian translation of Joni Mitchell’s «River»—and her own original song «Vente På Jul».
