Theis Ørntoft: Bag litiumbjergene

Theis Ørntoft in conversation with Bernhard Ellefsen.

Theis Ørntoft is joining us to talk about his latest book. His essay «Bag litiumbjergene» is a reckoning with the repressions of late-modern humanity. Why do politicians and journalists talk about a green transition that does not exist? How can we find hope in a global civilisation that is unsustainable? And is it possible to reconnect with life on earth? Ørntoft’s essay makes us lower our phone screens and look at the landscape of electronic waste left behind by our consumption. The book received positive reviews when it was published in Denmark in May this year, but it was also hotly debated in the newspapers.

Theis Ørntoft is one of the Nordic countries’ most prominent living writers. Among other honours, he has won the EU Prize for Literature and been nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize for his novel «Jordisk» (2023). His latest novel, «Habitat» (2025), has received many award nominations and has a long waiting list at Deichman.

Theis Ørntoft will be interviewed by Bernhard Ellefsen. Ellefsen has been responsible for books at Morgenbladet for many years and is now its culture editor.

Join us for an engaging conversation about climate and overconsumption with one of the Nordic countries’ most exciting writers!
