Kabul in the late 1980s. The children at a Soviet-run orphanage escape into the Bollywood films they love.
15-year-old Qodrat lives on the street, selling cinema tickets for Bollywood films on the black market. When he is caught, he is sent straight to the orphanage. As the political situation changes and the Soviets withdraw from Afghanistan, a rebel group prepares to storm the orphanage. Qodrat lets his imagination run wild and draws on all his Bollywood knowledge to defend his new home.
