The Ocean
The Ocean — Berlin-based post-metal band
The Berlin-based post-metal band are touring their 11th album, «Solaris», and are coming to Oslo to close out the year, filling Parkteatret to the brim with old and new fans!
The band’s previous album, «Holocene», paints a dystopian picture of a world coming apart at the seams—a world eager to destroy itself rather than build itself up. It’s a feeling, surely, that we’ve all been able to relate to lately. But just when all hope seems lost, glimmers of hope can suddenly appear. The Ocean have undergone some radical changes since their last release, and the new album «Solaris» charts a new path into a new era.
The new album’s title draws heavily on Andrey Tarkovsky’s 1972 film of the same name. And when it comes to dystopian sci-fi and existential journeys of discovery, there will be no shortage of grandeur. We have little doubt that The Ocean will deliver the goods on stage this time too.
New lineup! The album introduces two new vocalists, Lane Shi and Enrico Tiberi, as well as two guitarists, Emmanuel Jessua and Marco Gennaro. Also in the lineup are founder Robin Staps, long-serving bassist Mattias Hägerstrand and drummer Jordi Farré. Together, they serve up an opus lasting just over 70 minutes which, according to the band, marks a new peak in their discography and pushes the limits of ambition and narrative.
«Solaris» is released on 25 September.
