The Condor Daughter
A Bolivian film about tradition and personal dreams
A story about carrying on traditions while dreaming of a different life.
Clara is a midwife’s assistant in a small village in the Andes, where she learns birthing songs passed down through generations. But she dreams of becoming a singer in the city and faces a difficult choice: should she stay and carry on the traditions, or leave the village to create a life of her own?
The Condor Daughter is Bolivia’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards. It is a beautiful and poignant film about the tension between cultural heritage and personal dreams.
