Sunturns
15th-anniversary concert
In 2026, it will be 15 years since Norwegian indie Christmas band Sunturns released their debut album, Christmas—a record that has shaped an alternative Christmas tradition for music lovers in Norway and, in some circles, abroad since 2011. The anniversary will be marked with an exclusive concert at Parkteatret!
Sunturns formed in 2011 as a kind of Christmas supergroup, with members from several key acts in the Norwegian indie pop scene, including The Little Hands of Asphalt, Making Marks, Moddi, Mildfire, Flight Mode, My Little Pony and Einar Stray Orchestra. The band has since released several critically acclaimed albums of original Christmas music—Christmas (2011), Christmas II (2015) and Christmas III (2024)—and has cult status as one of the few bands in the world dedicated to new Christmas songs that bring together warmth, humour and melancholy.
Sunturns’ music combines a Nordic winter atmosphere with indie pop, folk and fuzz—from dreamlike guitar landscapes to lyrics exploring both the light and darkness in the way the festive season meets life. Over the years, the band has established an annual tradition of playing a concert in Oslo in December, an event that many make part of their Christmas celebrations each year.
Fans old and new are welcome, whether you love Christmas in general or Sunturns in particular.
