Together with SalsaNor, Suena Cuba invites you on a musical journey to Cuba through a repertoire rooted in the country’s rich rhythmic tradition. The ensemble presents a lively selection of genres including son, salsa and bolero, marked by rhythmic complexity, melodic warmth and close musical interplay. The quartet consists of experienced musicians with roots in the Cuban musical tradition, inviting the audience into a vibrant soundscape of Cuban rhythms. Singer Yusvier ‘Mantecao’ Iznaga is a former vocalist with the legendary orchestra Adalberto Alvarez y su son. String virtuoso Lino Lores has toured with artists including Orishas, Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanés, Omara Portuondo, Eliades Ochoa, Pancho Amat and Chucho Valdés. He is also a highly regarded music arranger, with three Grammy nominations for releases he has arranged. Together, the ensemble creates an authentic concert experience that takes the audience straight to Cuba’s vibrant music scene. This is an evening for seasoned fans and new listeners alike—a celebration of tradition, musical interplay and passion, and, above all, dancing!
Line-up: Lino Lores (tres, guitar and backing vocals), Eduardo Cedeño (percussion and backing vocals), Yusvier ‘Mantecao’ Iznaga (vocals) and Ruben Pirela (percussion).
DJ Spike (Dom) plays salsa, bachata and merengue before and after the concert. Before the concert, Holmlia local and salsa instructor Carina Bergh will also teach a salsa class. Come with or without a partner.
