While Agnès takes a nap after a long night of writing, the girls discover a secret portal that leads to another universe—the Kingdom of the Winds. There, they are transformed into fantastical creatures and trapped in a strange, colourful fairy-tale world. To get home, they must find the mysterious Sirocco, ruler of the winds. Along the way, they encounter both friendly and dangerous creatures, including a wicked mayor and a kind opera singer.
The film combines surreal elements with deeper themes of grief and longing. Its beautiful animation and imaginative world create an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike.
The year’s best animated film is also one of the year’s best films, regardless of category.
