Salsakurs – free beginner Cuban salsa course
Ready to find your rhythm? Join a free beginner salsa course! Have you ever wanted to learn one of the world’s most energetic and captivating partner dances? Now’s your chance! We’re hosting an introductory course in Cuban salsa, designed for people who have never danced before, as well as those who want to refresh the basics.
Who is the course for? In short: absolutely everyone! No prior experience is needed. We’ll start from scratch. You don’t need to bring a partner. We’ll switch partners during the course, making it social, fun and easier to learn.
What is Cuban salsa (Casino)? Cuban salsa stands out as a circular, playful and organic dance. Instead of dancing in a straight line, couples move in circles around each other. The style has roots in Afro-Cuban dances and traditional Cuban son, and is all about flow, connection, energy and the joy of dancing.
About the instructor The course is led by Holmlia local Carina Bergh, who has extensive experience in movement, rhythm and teaching. With 15 years in the salsa community, you’ll receive supportive, expert guidance. Her background ranges from swing and several years of teaching and practising korpsdrill, a form of marching band drill, to specialising in the Cuban style. As leader and choreographer of the Rueda group Fuerza Femenina, she has led the team to compete in the world championships. She also teaches through the group Fuerza Casino. The focus of the classes is that salsa and dancing should first and foremost be a source of joy. Bring a good mood and shoes that are comfortable to move in. We look forward to dancing with you!
