Solo experimental ambient concert
Rural Tapes (solo)
To mark the release of «Alien Territories Vol. 2», Arne Kjelsrud Mathisen, aka Rural Tapes, is heading out on a solo tour of Europe this autumn. For his concert at Kafé Hærverk on 12 November, he’ll bring tape machines, dictaphones and synths and perform an improvised set with a more experimental, ambient and drone-based character. Rural Tapes has released music on the British label Clay Pipe and the Swedish label Smuggler, and has received widespread acclaim for his seven releases. In the cassette series «Alien Territories», he explores new soundscapes and presents works with a textured, almost tactile sound quality. In its review of «Alien Territories Vol. 1», Klassekampen drew comparisons with experimental pioneers such as Terry Riley, Brian Eno and Robert Fripp. Arne Kjelsrud Mathisen’s career spans more than two decades. As a producer and performing musician, he has contributed to over 80 releases, as well as composing music for, among other things, butoh, theatre and dance performances.
