Odd Jr Plateslipp // Kafé Hærverk

Odd Jr are releasing their debut album “Odd Jr A’ Go-Go» and celebrating with a release show at Kafé Hærverk on Wednesday 25 November. Odd Jr is an anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist and anti-fascist no wave project. The music reflects this throughout: driving, tight and dry drum beats, rhythmic bass guitar lines, frantic saxophone howls and sharp, dissonant guitar solos carry primal groans and screaming beat poetry in Norwegian. The album is self-produced and released on their own record label, Degenerert kunst. During recording, Odd Jr consists of Mathias on drums, bass, guitar and vocals, while Jordan does it all justice with feverish sax lines. Everything apart from the saxophone was made, produced and recorded alone, from midnight until morning, over a period of 1.5 years.

The live band consists of: Magnus, a power-hitting drummer who also plays in Fork and Regn and in his own solo project Lyngfarer. He has previously played with a range of artists, including Årabrot, Redd, Blackbird Raum, Hombre Malo, Forcefed Horsehead and Twisted Teens. Emil is primarily an illustrator, but plays bass as strangely and intensely as he draws, and is a fundamental part of the band Arnfinn Nesset. Jordan, with the Giant Steps chord progression tattooed on his upper arm and one foot in spiritual jazz, was captured by Mathias, who one day strolled into the pub next door and asked for a saxophonist. He got a number, and here we are today. Mathias is active in Arnfinn Nesset and Invisible Hand and has previously played in Purple-X and Terrorstat.
