Miracle on 34th Street
A timeless Christmas classic
A timeless Christmas classic.
This is one of the great American Christmas classics. The film, which also has versions from 1973 and 1994, won three Oscars in 1948.
We meet Kris Kringle, who works as Santa Claus in a department store, bringing joy and Christmas cheer to everyone who visits. He forms a particularly close bond with a six-year-old girl. But her mother doesn’t believe in fairy tales, and Kris takes his case to court to prove that he is Santa Claus.
It is light, it is charming, it is delightfully funny and completely captivating. It is all that, and something more. It has an undefinable spiritual quality that raises the spirits of the beholder into a happy, hopeful mood.
