Memory of Princess Mumbi
The country of Umata lies on the African coast. Twenty years have passed since a world war, and in Umata and its neighbouring countries, the victorious traditionalist forces have banned all digital technology, claiming it has made the population depressed. European filmmaker Kuve finds himself in the midst of it all. He wants to make a documentary showing that the population is still depressed. In Umata, he recruits local actor Mumbi, who challenges him to make the film without artificial intelligence. A romance begins between them on set, but Mumbi is promised to the prince of a neighbouring country. MEMORY OF PRINCESS MUMBI is a highly impressive micro-budget film that combines visuals created with artificial intelligence with a postmodern, self-reflexive story about art and technology. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year.
