A teacher in a small town in Bangladesh goes from being a community hero to a feared authoritarian leader.
Jahir is the perfect teacher, husband and father. He is elected to political office with good intentions. But the expectations placed on him create pressure; the role quickly becomes overwhelming, and his moral compass begins to waver. When a proposal to turn a slum into a luxury resort comes up, he is also influenced by bureaucrats and lobbyists with interests of their own. His once-altruistic vision soon turns into a power struggle, and the community hero becomes a feared authoritarian leader.
