Markens grøde

Markens grøde — film adaptation of Knut Hamsun’s Growth of the Soil

Date Sunday 8. November
Time 15:45 - 18:24

Award-winning director Hans Petter Moland brings Knut Hamsun’s timeless masterpiece Markens grøde to the big screen, starring Herbert Nordrum (“Verdens verste menneske”) and Asta Kamma August (“Hendelser ved Vann”). It is late autumn. Isak struggles to survive in the wilderness. One day, Inger appears over the mountain. Love grows from an encounter born of desperation. In a merciless landscape, Isak and Inger fight to build a life together. Driven by love, they build the farm Sellanraa from nothing. When a dark secret comes to light, their love is put to the test.

The film also features Gard B. Eidsvold, Anders Baasmo, Oddgeir Thune and Sjur Vatne Brean, among others.

Based on Hamsun’s Nobel Prize-winning 1917 novel, the film is one of the most important works in Norwegian cultural history. It is a sweeping story about love and humanity’s place in beautiful, unforgiving nature.

Runtime: 2 hours 39 minutes. Age rating: 12. 2D, Norwegian audio, Norwegian subtitles, Kinoklubb. Screen 1.
