Markens grøde
Markens grøde — a film adaptation of Knut Hamsun’s novel
Award-winning director Hans Petter Moland brings Knut Hamsun’s timeless masterpiece Markens grøde to the big screen, starring Herbert Nordrum («Verdens verste menneske») and Asta Kamma August («Hendelser ved Vann»). It is late autumn. Isak struggles to survive in the wilderness. One day, Inger appears over the mountain. Love grows out of an encounter born of necessity. In the unforgiving natural world, Isak and Inger fight to build a life together. Driven by love, they build the farm Sellanraa from nothing. When a dark secret comes to light, their love is put to the test.
The film also features, among others, Gard B. Eidsvold, Anders Baasmo, Oddgeir Thune and Sjur Vatne Brean.
Based on Hamsun’s Nobel Prize-winning 1917 novel, the film draws on one of the most important works in Norwegian cultural history. It is an epic story of love and humanity’s place in beautiful, unforgiving nature.
