Marie works as a sex worker and lives freely, without being bound by society’s norms. When an evangelical church opens right across the street from the brothel, the sex workers get God as their closest neighbour. Marie Madeleine is an open and intimate story about an unexpected friendship that challenges the boundaries between faith, morality and freedom. The film premiered at Cannes in 2026, where it was nominated for the Queer Palm.
