Ane and Thomas are about to separate, but have not yet told their children. When Ane suffers a stroke, everything is put on hold. They continue living together while she fights to recover. Everyday life now consists of new routines and unresolved feelings.
Begynnelser is a quietly told film about a family falling apart—and how a life-changing event turns everyone’s life upside down. With an observant eye and remarkable performances from leads Trine Dyrholm and David Dencik, this beautiful Danish drama portrays what happens when you lose control and are forced to start over.
The film has been nominated for the Nordic Council Film Prize 2026.
