Ky Nam Inn

This atmospheric period film undoubtedly recalls Wong Kar-wai’s IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE.

We meet Khang, a young translator working on a translation of The Little Prince, as he moves in as a tenant with the widow Ky Nam in Saigon in 1985. Ky Nam is masterfully played by Do Thi Hai Yen, known from Tran Anh Hung’s The Vertical Ray of the Sun. As Khang and his landlady grow closer, the neighbors’ gossip intensifies, while the underlying tensions of post-war Vietnam begin to surface.
