Kristian Kristensen comes to Sentrum Scene on Saturday 7 November!

For over a decade, Kristian Kristensen has made his mark on the Norwegian pop scene with his extraordinary vocal range and emotional power. With enduring hits such as «Kan du lære mæ» and «Du ga mæ viljestyrke», and sold-out concert halls across the country, he has established himself as one of Norway’s most compelling performers.

Still, the artist felt a need to escape his familiar “Norwegian self”. The answer was a five-week stay in Los Angeles, driven by a desire to explore a new linguistic and musical landscape.

By setting aside the big productions and limiting himself to just an acoustic guitar, Kristensen found a new way into songwriting.

“By limiting myself to just one instrument, I found a new kind of freedom. It was about finding my way back to the heart of the performance,” says Kristensen.

Inspired by artists such as Adrianne Lenker and Bon Iver, he has embraced an organic and intimate sound. Many of the new lyrics came together after hours on a balcony in LA, where he swapped Norwegian for English to explore new nuances in his vocal delivery.

Audiences can look forward to meeting an artist who both honours his musical history and explores new expressions. On this tour, he presents a combination of his biggest Norwegian hits and entirely new English-language material.
