Journey There

Date Tuesday 10. November
Time 20:30 - 22:33

When her husband of many years dies, childless Chun-hee is already in exit mode, ready to follow in his footsteps. She moves out of their house and into a modest apartment in a block of flats, but there is no room for the piano, which still carries the emotional weight of the man in her life. Then fate plays a trick on her when this leads her to meet Min-jun, another resident of the block. A young German-Korean conductor, he is in the country to find a biological mother he never knew. He suggests that the piano could stay in his apartment and that she can come and play it whenever she likes. This is the beginning of a beautiful, moving friendship between a woman who never had children of her own and a young man who never had the chance to know his biological mother. Fine performances by Korean veteran actor Kim Hye-Ok and Justin H. Min, known, among other things, for Kogonada's After Yang. The film is part of the festival's MAMMA section, which centres on a lovely portrayal of a non-biological mother-son relationship.

Runtime: 2 hours 3 minutes. Age rating: All ages.
