Jørn Hoel feirer «Varme Ut Av Is» – 40 år
A 40th-anniversary concert celebrating Jørn Hoel’s album
- Tickets available
In 2027, it will be 40 years since Jørn Hoel released the album Varme ut av is—the record that had a defining impact on his career and gave us several songs that have stayed with both Jørn and his audience for four decades.
On Saturday 28 August 2027, Jørn Hoel Band invites you to a very special anniversary concert at Rockefeller.
This will be more than an evening of old hits. It will be a chance to revisit the music, stories, people and era surrounding an album that has earned a special place in Norwegian pop history. Varme ut av is features songs such as «Har en drøm», «Ei hand å holde i», «Elsk mæ sakte» and «Vi skal elske i sneen»—tracks that are still alive 40 years after they were recorded.
And when the album is celebrated, some of the people who have been important to its story will naturally be there.
Jørn’s longtime friend and musical companion Steinar Albrigtsen is a must-have guest for the evening.
So is American guitarist and producer Billy Cross, who produced Varme ut av is. Cross has had a long international career and is known, among other things, as a guitarist for Bob Dylan. At Rockefeller, he returns to the music he helped shape with Jørn 40 years ago.
But the anniversary evening will also include things the audience may not have heard before. As preparations for the concert get underway, outtakes and musical tracks from the period around Varme ut av is are being brought to light—material that did not make it onto the original release, but which now, four decades later, deserves to be heard.
Several guest artists will also appear during the evening.
Some names will be announced later.
“It’s quite special to think that 40 years have passed. In many ways, the songs have lived their own lives since the album came out. I’ve sung some of them thousands of times, but they still mean something to me. This evening, I want to go back to where they came from—with good friends, musicians and the audience. And of course, we’re going to make a proper party of it,” says Jørn Hoel.
