Forfatterne på Romsås: Vigdis Hjorth

Welcome to the final event of the year in our series “Forfatterne på Romsås”! This time, we’re welcoming Vigdis Hjorth. Hjorth will read from her latest novel, Det gode mennesket i Sandvika, and then take your questions.

Det gode mennesket i Sandvika is a tragicomic novel about money, gambling, beer, fate and class. She starts going to the local pub. She brings her computer and works there, with a beer on the table and her dog resting quietly underneath. Another woman has a regular table by the TV; every Saturday, she sits with her lottery ticket. The pub is liveliest on the day the money arrives from Nav. Are they in the same boat, even though she has money all month? What kind of room to manoeuvre do the people who go to the pub really have? One evening, something happens that turns everything upside down.

Welcome!
