Hjelper smartklokka på helsa? (A talk about smartwatches, ageing and health)
A talk about new research on technology, ageing and health.
What does it mean to age well, and how can we achieve it? There are many different answers. At this talk, you’ll hear the latest research on how smartwatches and activity trackers can encourage physical activity and good health.
• Do we learn more about our bodies by measuring them? • Does using fitness watches make older people more physically active? • Do they help people stay young for longer? • Do smartwatches give older people a greater sense of security? • Could there be downsides to using these watches?
In this talk, Marte Knutsson from Norges idrettshøgskole presents her findings, based on interviews with a number of men and women aged 60 to 83. She explored what “successful ageing” means, which social and cultural norms shape it, and how measuring health indicators relates to these ideals.
Knutsson will share her findings in a clear and accessible way. The talk lasts 30 minutes, followed by a chance for discussion and questions.
