Fra NRK-arkivet: Erik Bye

A deep dive into NRK’s rich archive, this time focusing on TV legend Erik Bye, who would have turned 100 this year.

Erik Bye was a towering figure in Norwegian television for decades: as the host of entertainment programmes that brought the whole nation together, and as a committed reporter around the world, making programmes from Biafra, the USA and South America. He connected with everyone: he could flirt playfully with Josephine Baker, be pals with Festus and Danny Kaye, shine a light on wartime sailors, help businesses get started through Idé-banken, and be a poet and singer.

This evening, we’ll show excerpts from his extensive TV work for NRK and talk with people who worked with him and were there when the studio lights went out. The programme is presented by the same team behind the Cinemateket presentations on Svein Erik Børja and Jan Horne, in collaboration with Asbjørn Bakke, author of the biography of Erik Bye, and other guests.

Free admission, but remember to reserve a seat ticket.
