Drapet på Benjamin Hermansen
Drapet på Benjamin Hermansen — a film about racism, loss and the hope for reconciliation
We follow Marit's struggle in court, while flashbacks to life before the tragedy bring two fates together. Benjamin grows up surrounded by friends and a mother who cares for him, while Joe Erling is shaped by an environment marked by neglect. Both live in areas with low social status. Benjamin experiences the police stigmatizing him, while Joe Erling drifts into the neo-Nazi Boot Boys scene in search of security. The film shows how vulnerable young boys can be as they try to find themselves and a sense of belonging—and how catastrophic the consequences can be when hatred is allowed to grow. 25 years after the murder of Benjamin Hermansen, this is a story we still need to tell—about racism, loss and the hope for reconciliation in a society that must not forget.
