Cory Wong presents Fretboard Odyssey

The Grammy-nominated guitar virtuoso, songwriter and producer Cory Wong is coming to Sentrum Scene onsdag 16. desember! Joining him as special guests are Mark Lettieri, Henrik Linder, Ariel Posen, Kevin Gastonguay and Louis Cato. Cory Wong played to a completely sold-out Rockefeller in 2023, and tickets for this concert are likely to be in high demand too.

Cory Wong is from Minneapolis and made his international breakthrough through his collaboration with Vulfpeck, where his rhythmic guitar playing and charismatic stage presence helped define both the band’s sound and live performances. Since then, he has built an impressive solo career, with a steady stream of releases showcasing rare musical versatility—from horn-driven funk and instrumental fusion to collaborations with artists such as Jon Batiste, The Jonas Brothers, Bruce Hornsby, Chromeo, Billy Strings and Victor Wooten, among others.

«The Fretboard Odyssey is a tour I’ve had in mind for a long time.

I’ve been lucky to explore a lot of different musical lanes over the years, with Vulfpeck, The Fearless Flyers, and my own projects...but I’ve always wanted to build something that puts the guitar front and center.

This tour is that.

Not in a “guitar shred fest” way, but more like… what happens when you put a few players together who all see the instrument differently and create a space where we can explore that in real time. Create an environment where we can write, stretch, react, and see where the music goes.

I’ve been a huge fan of Mark Lettieri and Ariel Posen for years, and over time we’ve become close friends. What I love about playing with them is that we’re speaking a similar language but with totally different accents. There’s a lot of room to push, blend, and surprise each other.

On bass, Henrik Linder brings a combination of precision, power, and feel that’s just unreal. A lot of people know him as a shredder on the bass, but he's got so much more depth that I have been fortunate to see in recording sessions. We first played together during my collaboration album with Dirty Loops, and this will be the first time we play on stage together!

Kevin Gastonguay and I have been playing together since our first day of college. From corner bar gigs to arenas, he’s been there for all of it. Having keys in this setting opens up the sonic palette in a big way, and Kevin is great at knowing exactly what a song needs and how to enhance it.

And then there’s Louis Cato...someone I met through The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He’s one of the most versatile musicians I’ve ever been around. Drums, bass, guitar, vocals...he does it all at such a high level, and he brings a kind of musical curiosity that makes anything feel possible. Having him on the tour will be great for exploring different setups and allow us to tap into different genres as well.

This isn’t just a guitar tour. It’s a chance to explore, take chances, and have some fun with the instrument.»
