Barneidretten: før og nå — a talk on children’s sport, then and now
Welcome to a talk about the development of children’s sport in Norway, viewed in the context of Norwegian sports history.
This talk looks at Norwegian sports history from the perspective of children’s sport. Gudmund Skjeldal discusses his work on the book «Barnestjerner» and why this history sheds light on the past and prompts reflection on the present. He takes us back to a time when children involved in Norwegian sport had duties before they had rights, and challenges us to ask whether we have gone too far in the other direction.
Gudmund Skjeldal lives in Årvoll. He is the author of many nonfiction books and an associate professor at Norges idrettshøgskole.
