Åpen mikrofon med palestinsk poesi
Åpen mikrofon med palestinsk poesi — an open mic for Palestinian poetry
Det antifascistiske biblioteket invites you to a silent vigil and solidarity reading.
Welcome to a solidarity reading and silent vigil for Palestine, organised by Det antifascistiske biblioteket. There will be an open mic, giving anyone who wishes the opportunity to read and share poems. Several translators who have worked with Palestinian poetry over the past three years have also been invited. The solidarity reading will begin with a brief silent vigil in memory of the victims.
Det antifascistiske biblioteket is an artwork curated by Deichman. This event is part of the artwork.
The artists say: “Det antifascistiske biblioteket stands in solidarity with Palestinian writers and poets, and against the genocide in Gaza. The solidarity reading reactivates a similar event held at Deichman Grünerløkka exactly three years ago. At the time, a further campaign featuring Palestinian poems on social media was stopped by the library director at the time. As an antifascist library, we want to emphasise the importance of art and poetry during war and terror, while also exploring and challenging the limits of library staff’s engagement and freedom of expression. This is therefore both an act of solidarity with Palestine and a manifestation of the importance of free expression in libraries and other institutions. It also continues themes that we address in the film Manifest and in Kjøkkenskulpturen.”
Gard Frantzen, Sveinung Unneland and Ane Hjort Guttu are the artists responsible for Det antifascistiske biblioteket.
Kjøkkenskulpturen is an art installation on the 3rd floor of Deichman Bjørvika.
