Ana Roxanne (US/Kranky)
Concert
Ana Roxanne (US/Kranky) Friday 13 November | 19:00 | Age limit: 20 | 250,- ambient / experimental / electronic / jazz Ana Roxanne was born and raised in the Bay Area and is now based in New York City. She is a composer and vocalist with a personal, subtly experimental style that Resident Advisor has described as “introverted euphoria” and Pitchfork as “ecstatic.”
Most recently, Roxanne channelled heartbreak and grief into Poem 1, her second album and her most unfiltered musical expression to date. The album combines subdued jazz, minimalism and vocal-based folk forms, with a clear awareness of ambient music. It unfolds as a form of catharsis, where hope is found in the subtlety, slowness and smoky melancholy of the piano, in the vulnerable vocals and in the distant, droning synthesizers.
