Amadou & Mariam: The Blind Couple from Mali
Film screening in Oslo
Since the 1980s, their music has reached millions of people around the world. They are the faces of contemporary West African music, and while their success has been great and impressive, their path to fame has been marked by turmoil in their home country of Mali. Against this backdrop, Amadou & Mariam’s more recent songs have become anthems for displaced people. Yet the duo’s outlook has remained optimistic—and an inspiration around the world. With this latest album, they hope to unite people and inspire change. They also return to Mali to give a concert in their homeland. This is a story about finding hope in a chaotic world and, above all, spreading joy through music.
