All the Lovers in the Night
Film screening
Two reserved souls meet and form a fragile bond in the lonely metropolis of Tokyo.
We meet Fuyuko, a deeply shy young woman who works freelance as a proofreader. Working from home, she does not have to interact with others. A chance meeting at a cultural centre with Mitsutsuka, a gentle older physics teacher, builds a bridge to the outside world. A small romantic spark appears when they meet again at a café and talk about the nature of light.
All the Lovers in the Night is a beautiful, poetic film about breaking free from big-city loneliness and finding a new direction in life. It is based on a book by Mieko Kawakami.
