All the Lovers in the Night

We meet Fuyuko, a deeply shy young woman who works freelance as a proofreader. Working from home means she can avoid interacting with other people. A chance encounter at a cultural centre with Mitsutsuka, a gentle older physics teacher, suddenly builds a thin bridge out into the world. A small romantic spark appears when they meet again at a café and talk about the nature of light. All the Lovers in the Night is a beautiful, poetic film about breaking free from urban loneliness and finding a new direction in life, based on a book by Mieko Kawakami.
