A Fox Under a Pink Moon
An intimate and powerful portrait of a young girl in an extreme situation.
For more than five years, 16-year-old Afghan Soraya has been trying to escape Iran and reunite with her mother in Austria. She lives under constant pressure from the violent man she is married to. She expresses all her fears, terrors and joys through her own artwork, which we get a close look at in the film through imaginative animated sequences. Soraya uses materials she finds along her escape route in her art.
Soraya filmed everything in the film herself, while Mehrdad Oskouei directed it remotely, in dialogue with Soraya. Together, they have created an intimate portrait of a tough girl in an extreme situation—and a film that reflects some of the most pressing questions of our time.
The film is presented by Oslo Dokumentarkino.
