1349 — Black metal concert at Parkteatret
The Oslo-based black metal band 1349 returns to Parkteatret in November!
1349 are not like other bands. They are not a group of friends who decided to make music together. 1349 were formed around a shared vision and a specific purpose: to keep the black metal legacy alive.
Vocalist and founding member Olav «Ravn» Bergene was dissatisfied with the direction black metal was taking in the mid-90s, and decided to take matters into his own hands to get the genre back on track. Ravn gathered musicians who felt the same way and formed 1349 in 1997. Every album they have released since has been inspired by early-90s Norwegian black metal.
The Wolf and the King is the latest attack in this crusade. On the album, the Oslo-based band harnesses the uncompromising energy of black metal’s decade-defining second wave and channels it through ancient mysticism and the relentless global chaos of the 2020s. The title comes from a classic alchemical allegory: a wolf devours a king before being swallowed by flames, and a new king rises from the ashes.
