A historical talk about BJART, a local gymnastics association
A talk about BJART, the local gymnastics and sports association.
Get to know the Østensjø neighbourhood through BJART, an association with a 100-year history. Hear how its activities have developed over the years and what gymnastics has meant for children and young people growing up in the local community.
On 9 October 1925, the gymnastics and sports association BJART was founded at Østensjø school. Today, it is one of the oldest sports associations in Bydel Østensjø and is a parent-run community club for children and young people aged 4–16. It focuses on varied apparatus training and developing body control through gymnastics, dance and acrobatics. But it has not always been this way.
Join Kirsti Pedersen Gurholt, Professor Emerita at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, for a historical talk about BJART. She grew up in Oppsal and was a longtime member and competitive gymnast in the association. The talk lasts 30 minutes, followed by time for discussion and questions.
